2014 WA'S BEST STEAK SANDWICH COMPETITION - METROPOLITAN & REGIONAL

The Australian Hotels Association (WA) announced The Karalee on Preston as the winner of Perth’s Best Steak Sandwich 2014. 

The winner had, in steak sandwich terminology, superior 'fangability', which is a term used to describe the ease of which one's teeth can sink into a juicy, succulent and flavoursome steak sandwich.

The winning Chef, Mickey Phull, attributed his win to the freshness of the produce he uses and the tender, juicy steak that is accompanied by a homemade barbeque and porcini mushroom sauce.

The Best Brew at Four Points by Sheraton was awarded second place by guest judges that included AHA(WA) CEO, Bradley Woods, Lion Regional Sales Manager, Danny Connolly, Jacki O’Hara from The Peasant’s Table and Graeme Butler from Today Tonight Channel 7.

The Australian Hotels Association (WA) announced Matso's Broome Brewery as the winner of the AHA's Best Regional Steak Sandwich for 2014. 

Head Chef, Sebastian Schacher attributed Matso's success to the sandwich's secret ingredient - a homemade Tomato Chutney, which has been passed on for years from Head Chef to Head Chef. 

German born chef, Schacher has worked at Matso’s for almost two years and represents the increasing number of overseas trained and experienced chefs who have chosen to work in regional Western Australia. 

Murphy's Irish Pub in Mandurah was awarded second place by guest judges that included Rockpool Bar & Grill Perth Head Chef, Dan Masters, Lion Regional Sales Manager, Danny Connolly, Jacki O’Hara from The Peasant’s Table and AHA(WA) CEO Bradley Woods.
